We can do a lot of things and be successful but we usually get limited by procrastinating. The feeling of not wanting to do something on time and postponing it to another time/day . If everyone does what he/she is supposed to do at the right time and right place ,then life would be the smoothest thing ever. But due to procrastinating things get delayed and hence the consequences are real.
Reasons for procrastination
- Lack of motivation to do something/task because they find it uninteresting or not of much importance.
- Fear of not doing the task well or completing it successfully.
- Difficulty in prioritizing tasks on how to perform them, hence leading them to put things off.
- Some people delay starting a task as they avoid making mistakes.
- Some procrastinate due to external distractions, such as social media, or internal distractions, such as racing thoughts.
- Low mood or depression causes one to lack enough energy and motivation to complete tasks.
- Lack of self-discipline that it becomes hard to start and stick to tasks.
- Some people use procrastination as a way to deal with stress, anxiety, or other negative emotions.
Almost everyone suffers procrastination, students to employees, businessperson to contractors. A student given an assignment, postpones doing it by saying "I shall do it tomorrow" and tomorrow turns into weeks. Unfortunately the deadline gets closer and closer ,and the student does the assignment in a rush and have no time to research on how to do the assignment, he/she does it for just submitting. And then a bad grade is awarded to him/her which wouldn't have been the case if he/she didn't procrastinate.
Procrastination prevents one from reaching his/her full potential .
